Jameson Calantoc This is one of those rare tracks where its vibe is gonna depend on your mood. It can be chill if you focus on the music and confident that life will improve. But if you're on edge, the lyrics may make you feel uneasy. Or frustrated. But you might also hear empowerment in there.

Either way, this song offers much food for thought. Take from it what you can.

about

This was the first song ever created w/ Leah Ann aka LAFEMMEBEAR, we felt it was time to share this feeling w/ the world.
The future will not be reimagined for us, a future where black trans lives are safe, our black sons aren’t lynched, and black sisters can do something really revolutionary like rest - and not have to take to the streets to tell the world that their lives are more than a hashtag. It’s exhausting to be so necessary. Unfairly, in this paradigm the Black artists' resources and imagination are spent creating compasses, weaving chants into dance, songs, visuals, texts, puzzles, and sculptures, as analogue logs of something being off. The Black artist is signed into a kind of alchemy they can’t log out of. The hard drive is full, the user names may change but the passwords remain encrypted in us. There is a duty to navigate our ways back to realities we wish we could remember to forget.

LET'S IMAGINE FREEDOM OUTSIDE OF THE PARADIGM OF OPPRESSION . HAPPY JUNETEETH!

lyrics

:: [LAFEMMEBEAR HOOK] ::
It's too much breath in my chest to let it go now
too much heart it got left to move slow now
I won't let up this pain won't make me fall down
I'mma go hard till my death YES!

:: [Def Verse i] ::
Weight on my shoulders,
look in the mirror reflection distorted
it’s raining it’s pouring
I’m dancing I’m moving
I matrix these bullets
I’m dodging the droplets

I seen all thee footage,
Regaining my footing
these therapy session I call it recording

my mind on unlimited scrolling
waiting so much man I feel like loading
I feel like I’m drowning
I feel like an Ocean
lost out at sea
waiting on ppl to see
I’m waiting
but the waiting is weighing on me
when really
I’m waiting on me
the artist within
is the hardest to please
when you’re pain is the painting
the easel aint easy to be
who got you back?
cuz whoever is fronting is easy see

we cutting all the ropes
We aint for sale man
you pushing envelopes
we shoving mailmen

The game is reset yea
the table been set yea
we finna eat
COLORED is next yea

you do it for a post
I do it for my pulse
push me to thee edge
I will never fold

[HOOK]

:: [Def Verse ii] ::

I know the clock like
I know my own skin

I write to saves lives
probably my own man

I know this plot like
they sell us spotlights
they sell us their lies
my heart be knowing
my heart is open
my heart is
my heart is probably the hardest
the problem I spend my life solving
turn all my sorrows to sonnets
that won’t absorb it
I’m just observant
I just be learning to be
how you stay woke and don’t put us to sleep
thats so important
way more important than whats in you pockets
so what’s in yo pocket?
I need it
my mom can’t retire
purpose on surface is I’m in spired
really i’m broken really i’m tired
really i’m trying
to fit a buffet on a plate
day after day
disconnect
reconnect
why i create
Wakanda is fiction
I’m from LA

where the preacher
who the deacon
who’s your brother
who’s thee keeper
who’s the teacher
gentrify my momma building
momma moving
momma mia

momma moved to Pasadena
Need thee Gualla
when I know a dollar can not complete us

sacrilegious
so egregious
tax thee wicked
I will eat them
w/ no seasoning
make distinctions
we thee ppl
we the culture
we aint leaving
